When I send my newborn session info, I have so many details to share and it can be tough to fit in every thought in that initial blurb. One question that I do tend to get is what's the difference between the simple studio and middle session, so I hope this helps break it down more in depth!

They are both in studio and both offer the option to do family/sibling shots, so it's more about how you want the baby only shots styled.


There's 3 options for studio posed sessions - mini, middle, or full and they offer varying pricing, set ups,  and image count. The style is all the same for these. These are done with studio lighting; color options; often sleeping (but not always); prop use (but of course doesn't have to be). Im typically getting 2 or 3 poses on the blanket and a ton of angles within each pose.

The middle session is the most popular and I can get a really great variety for the gallery here. If 12 images is not quite enough, you can always do add ons but of course don't have to.

A very typical middle session looks like baby posed on a blanket on their belly, side, and front facing. From there we get wrapped up in a basket and then family shots (or, if there's siblings, Im starting with the family shots and doing the baby only ones afterwards).


Simple studio is different, in that it's all in the white space. The light  is meant to emulate natural light and it's a more laid back posing approach.

Im usually getting wrapped shots, then details (another difference from the middle session) like lashes, lips/nose, profile, toes, fingers/hand), sometimes a pose of baby on their back curled up, then laying on belly.


Of course in any session I can't make the baby be awake or asleep but I do send a prep info message that seems to help with getting the sleepy shots.

The posed studio sessions are often sleeping but of course it's up to baby. Simple studio seems to be 50/50.

The good thing about choosing me as your baby photographer is I have been doing this since 2014 so I have seen babies in many different states of awake/asleep and can work with what they give me with a strong work flow.

This is a full session - you can see there's different 'set ups.' This family had over 300 images to choose from.

This was a middle session. You can see the 3 different poses on the blanket; basket prop; family shots. There's so many different angles in each one so I send the proofing gallery for the family to choose what appeals the most to you.
