Baby Frankie came to me for his one year photos recently and what a guy! He has the best smile and was such a joy to photograph. His mom chose light blues and white for the portraits and cake and I thought they were just perfect. Those soft, classic tones photograph beautifully creating a timeless look that never goes out of style. Light blue is always my favorite choice for boy sessions because it feels fresh and polished without being overpowering.
His first outfit was a precious classic set that is timeless and clean...such a perfect choice for a first birthday portrait session! For baby photography, I always recommend starting with a more traditional look before transitioning into something a little more playful/celebratory. It gives beautiful variety of images while still keeping the gallery cohesive.
The second outfit is actually one of the options I have available for boys in my client closet, and it matched the cake setup perfectly. I love when families take advantage of my wardrobe because it makes planning simple and ensures everything photographs beautifully together. Both outfits stayed within the same color palette for consistency, but they were different enough that we were able to create tons of variety in his final gallery.
One year sessions are such a special milestone. Babies are full of personality at this age — standing, maybe walking, clapping, and showing off those big smiles. It’s the perfect time to document their sweet expressions and budding independence before they step into toddlerhood.
